Thanks to Jen from Movieline for sending me the link to this wonderful interview they conducted with Kyle during Sundance and how he got a role in another one of Kevin Smith’s projects.
“We shot for a few weeks [on Red State] and he came up and asked me if I could skate,” recalled Gallner, one of Sundance’s 7 Fresh Faces in Film. “He pulled me off to the side and said, ‘I’ve got this other movie and I’d like you to be in it.’”

Kyle is out and about at Sundance for “Red State” and he also attended friend Thomas Dekker’s parties for Kaboom! I’ve added some medium quality images to the gallery from all his sundance appearances and will replace them with high quality when I get the chance, I do apologize for the lack of updates. I’m trying to keep up with this as well as a few other busy sites. Please bare with me!

Kevin Smith’s latest film RED STATE has yet to make its premiere, but his other often spoken of film HIT SOMEBODY is also starting to take shape. Smith has already announced on his Red State of the Union podcast other casting news and he’s now come out saying that Kyle Gallner (RED STATE, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, JENNIFER’S BODY) is also cast in the new film. Gallner is said to be playing a Wayne Gretsky-esque type of character, which with Smith’s often audible love of hockey and Wayne Gretsky, it’s not surprising he’d want a character that possesses Gretsky’s attributes.
Smith is hard at work pimpin RED STATE before it graces the eyes of an eager Sundance crowd. HIT SOMEBODY was penned by Smith and based off a song by Warren Zevon. Smith has already cast fellow RED STATE alum Nicholas Braun in the upcoming film as well.

Finally have a new layout to bring in the new year with. This layout was done by my lovely friend Jess and it features pics of Kyle from the Blue Valentine premiere. I’m going to be working on getting the site up to date slowly. Please bare with me, also looking for help, so if you’re interested, please drop me a email and let me know!

How’d you get involved with this project? Did you go through the audition process?
Yeah, it was your typical audition process. I got sent the script to read, I really liked the script a lot and a couple days later I had the audition and I ended up booking the role.
What scene did they make you perform? Was it anything with your co-stars?
I can’t remember, but I ended up getting to audition Brittany and they ended up having me and her get together and actually run scenes together. When I auditioned it was just me reading with the casting director, but when they auditioned Brittany, they had us go to this place and me and her ran a couple of scenes for like an hour or two.
So you were the first to be cast?
Yeah.

A new little snippet about the plotline for Red State has been released.
A group of kids encounters a crazed preacher (based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church) who gives a whole new meaning to the term “extreme fundamentalism.”
In a story from The Wrap, Dermot Mulroney, Kyle Gallner, Michael Angarano and Stephen Root are presently in talks to co-star in Kevin Smith’s political horror film Red State.
Also, Oscar nominated
actress Melissa Leo is also eyeing the project.Red State stars Michael Parks (Grindhouse) and is somewhat based on Reverend Fred Phelps of the hateful Westboro Baptist Church.
Smith has not yet finished the script but the director says he wants “recognizable unknowns” in some of the script’s main roles. He is doing this because these actors will most likely appear in smaller supporting roles.
In addition to this, via his Twitter account, Kevin Smith said that Red State will begin shooting on September 22.
Red State comes to theaters in 2011 and stars Dermot Mulroney, Michael Angarano, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root, Melissa Leo, Michael Parks. The film is directed by Kevin Smith.
